Practice Staff
Practice Manager
Carol Sayers is the practice manager and she is responsible for the business, financial, administrative and staff issues to ensure the smooth running of the practice.
She would be happy to hear your views and suggestions about the service offered by the practice.
Reception Staff
The receptionists are usually your first point of contact with the surgery. In order to help you to the best of their ability they may need to ask a few questions. Please do not blame the receptionists if the doctor is running late or if they are unable to offer you just what you want. Remember, they are trying to do a difficult and demanding job and are often working under extreme pressure. It is a legal requirement that confidentiality of patients’ records is maintained at the highest level by all staff.
Practice Nurses
The practice nurse, Sister Christine Priest RGN, is available by appointment. Her numerous tasks include:
• Specialist clinics (ie asthma/diabetes/well woman)
• Taking blood for tests
• Infant, adult and travel immunisations
• Dressings and removal of stitches
• Ear syringing
Health Care Nurse
The health care nurse is available by appointment for blood tests, lifestyle advice including diet, smoking cessation, blood pressure checks and new patient medicals.
We also have a dedicated Smoking Cessation Clinic one afternoon per week by appointment.
Attached Staff
These are the people we work with to provide a full range of health care to everyone in the community.
District Nurses
The district nurses give nursing care to patients confined to their homes including those with terminal illnesses. They have access to equipment to make nursing at home easier for patient and carer. The district nurses also work closely with the doctors and practice nurses and are a valuable part of the team.
Health Visitors
The health visitors not only look after the welfare and development of children, but also work with families. They aim to promote good health for everyone.
Community Midwives
The community midwives can advise you on all aspects of maternity care. They work together with the doctors providing antenatal and postnatal care.
Community Psychiatric Nurses
The community psychiatric nurses help with problems like stress, anxiety, depression and mental health-related problems.
Counselling Services
The counsellors are available two days per week (by referral from the doctor).
